I have only a small urban yard, can I still keep stingless bees?

Studies have shown that Australian native stingless bees thrive more so in urban environments than in rural environments. This is because there is usually a diverse smorgasbord of flowering plants, trees and shrubs within localised areas for them to forage.  As long as you have a secure position to place them where they will get morning sun until around 10am (see where should I locate my hive).

Can I ring you if I have any questions?

Do native bees sting?

No, native bees do not sting. Native bees do not actually have a stinger so can’t physically sting, making them perfect for people who are allergic to European (honey) bees but want to keep bees in their yard. Native bees do have mandibles, similar to ants, and if distressed, they can give you a little ‘nip’. This only tends to happen if the colony is distressed due to being opened or significantly disturbed.
